Paul Callaghan

I am a 53‑year‑old family man with extensive experience working at a senior level in global commercial and business development roles. Over the course of my career, I have led teams, managed international partnerships, and supported organisations through periods of growth and change. My background has given me strong skills in communication, relationship‑building, strategic planning, and public representation.

I am comfortable working at board level and understand the importance of good governance, accountability, and clear decision‑making. I bring a practical, calm and solutions‑focused approach, along with the ability to engage confidently with a wide range of stakeholders.

I would be a strong fit as a Trustee because I combine professional experience with a genuine commitment to community and positive social impact. I am reliable, collaborative, and motivated to contribute my time and skills to support FCYNER’s mission and long‑term development.

As well as a Brother, I am a father, husband and son. Although I often work overseas, I grew up in NYorks and my parents are based in NYorks. I have kept in touch with my school friends, who are an active network of professionals in NYorks. My sons are both attending university in Newcastle. NYorks is a key place in my heart.

My family and I have benefited from embracing Masonic values and emotional support. My family and I have experienced deep sadness during a life-changing period when my 13-year-old son was diagnosed with a life-threatening cancer. It was a very tough and challenging period, but through much support from all those around us, the family managed to pull through this terrible ordeal.

I would like to give back the community by helping fulfil FCYNER’s vision of charity and Masonic values.

I feel the best way I can do this is to contribute as a trustee based on my own life experience – both personal experience and professional experience advising companies on governance and shaping their strategies for future growth. Specifically, I can contribute to:

  • helping shape the FCYNER strategy
  • ensuring we have voiced, discussed and agreed on all the important issues
  • providing another set of eyes on the financial statements (I am not a qualified accountant)

Thank you!

As a retired Insurance Professional, I worked in a regulated environment, serving as a Statutory Board Director for over 20 years with all the formal/legal responsibilities for governance and financial management that comes with that role. The skills and experiences gained over these years have served me well and I believe they are transferable to the role of Trustee.

Moreover, from an early age I have always advocated voluntary work serving for several years on the Management Committees of local Community Groups. As President and Coach of a local junior tenpin bowling club for11 years I helped develop the life skills though sport of many young children, some of whom I’ve been able to see grow into fine young adults and parents

I have also been fortunate enough to have held the office of President of the Insurance Institute of Hull twice, the second on the occasion of our Centenary, as well as serving as Secretary, Treasurer and Dinner Committee Chairman on various occasions during my 40 year membership of the Council.

As a Freemason of over 20 years standing, I believe that the role of a freemason is indeed to consider how we can bring relief to others both within and out of freemasonry and our Charitable aims are a key part of how we can do that though our community engagement and support for local charities and charitable groups .
I hope you will give me the opportunity to serve and support the great work of the FCYNER.
